Clare Swallow started Mulberry St after a 4am epiphany that if she was to consult around cultures of courage, she too needed to be courageous and follow her true passion after many years as a General Manager of a successful technology consultancy. While Clare loved the challenge that came with building the business and an engaged team, her true passion was doing customer experience , strategy and innovation consulting for clients including well known NZ brands.

Mulberry St was born as a place to help purpose led kiwi companies take their businesses to the world.

At Mulberry St we fundamentally believe 'experience is the new brand' and an experience is something we feel. As such, we see the future of work as a connected, human-centered, purpose led one. If we continue to develop products, services, and the way in which we market and sell them, in isolation to the people they affect we will continue to create waste in all forms.

By understanding what connects and motivates people we are much more likely to build successful companies around our people and our customers. This is what the world needs and your customers expect.

At Mulberry Street we believe in the following:

  • Human beings are the centre of everything. Technology, processes, methodologies and structures are enablers but they are not, nor ever will be, the business.

  • Co-creating. We cannot design the future of our businesses in isolation to the people they impact, both our customers and our teams.

  • There is a place for joy at work. As adults we sometimes forget how to have fun at work. Fun and hard work can co-exist, in fact having a good time at work can lead to increased connection, which leads to more creativity, which ultimately leads to better business outcomes.

  • Keeping it simple. If no one is ever going to read that 50 page strategy, do the one page picture instead. Do the thing that moves things forward not just what the books say.

  • No such thing as paint by numbers. Every business is unique, every plotted history, every hard fought lesson, every headline they wish to write for their future. In order to do right by our customers we have to first find out what is right for them, and only them. Then do that.
